NLMA Series Race No. 2

The Vanderlaan Building Products Northeast Late Model Alliance series is headed west to Merrittville Speedway for series race number two! The series kicked off at Brighton Speedway on May 6th for the NLMA “Lid Lifter “with 19 Late Models in attendance. The 40-lap event, the race went green to checkered and took race winner Charlie Sandercock (No. 57) a mere 10 mins and 28.226 secs to complete.  

This feature win marked Sandercock’s 150th victory, a proud moment for the Brighton Speedway veteran, and was celebrated with his two children in attendance. Steve Baldwin (No. 5) followed closely behind in second, with Brandon Mowat (No. 46) third, Austin King (No. 89) and Adam Turner (No. 0) to round out the top five. Heat wins were taken home by Charlie Sandercock, Steve Baldwin and Caley Weese (No. 77). In a field full of rookies, the Late Model race was the highlight of opening night in Brighton. 

Race No. 2 of the series will be in the west at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario. The race will be 30 laps the distance with $300.00 to take the green and $1,500.00 to win!  See below for complete purse breakdown.  

This Victoria Day Monday at Merrittville Speedway also features the Peacemaker 420 75 lap Hoosier Stocks, 40 lap 358 Modifieds with Nascar veteran Ken Schrader, Mini Mods and a firework show! NLMA series officials hope to see you there for the return of Late Model racing to Merrittville’s dirt and a great night of racing.
