This coming Sunday, June 30th Charlie Sandercock will have his hands full as the best of the Late Model Drivers in the Northeast attempt to de-throne the inaugural Northeast Late Model Alliance Champion. The Canada Day Weekend will kick off in style with a pair of back to back $1000.00 to win events in the Niagara region.
In its second season that NLMA is made up of three northeast late model tracks Brighton Speedway, Fulton Speedway and Humberstone speedway working together to promote dirt late model racing in the region. In its inaugural season the Vanderlaan Building Products saw seventy plus drivers take part in at least one of fourteen series events.
New Humberstone Speedway located in Port Colborne will be the host track for night one Sunday, June 30th, an event Sandercock out dueled 2018 Humberstone track champion Chad Holman to pick up the first win in series history last season on the same weekend. The competition is expected to be stiff this year with a stellar crop of local talent on hand to fend off the challenges from Sandercock and the rest of the invaders from Brighton and Fulton.
Night two of the double header will see a new track for many of the Late Model drivers as the NLMA takes on a tricky 3/8ths mile oval for the first time when they visit Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario. Although new to the series many area drivers such as Rob Pietz, Jeff Daymen and Tim Gillespie have many laps around Merrittville in various other types of race cars and have also races in previous RUSH sanctioned events at the speedway with Sandercock and Brighton regular Phil Potts.
